Short movie

In 2023, I began creating a short film to hone my skills as a storyteller and film director. With permission from Gallimard, one of France’s leading book publishers, I was granted the opportunity to adapt Jacques Prévert’s poem « How to Paint a Portrait of a Bird ».

This poem is an excerpt from Paroles (1946), published by Éditions Gallimard. The 3-minute animated short film is a tribute to the art of poetry.

Drawing inspiration from the surrealist world and collage techniques of Jacques Prévert, I’ve crafted a colorful and graphic interpretation of this classic piece of French poetry.

As the narrative unfolds, the music introduces sounds that gradually merge, eventually forming a complete musical piece by the time the painting is finished.

The film is freely available to everyone, intended to be screened in cinemas in DCP 2K scope format, with the goal of sharing Jacques Prévert’s work. If you’d like to screen the film, please don’t hesitate to get in touch.
